lemon themed birthday fiesta
To celebrate my mothers birthday, we had a lemon themed fiesta. Her favorite thing to do is spend time around family just in a relaxed setting, so I invited the whole family over and that is exactly what we did!
AP style tips for the perfect get together
Lay everything that you can out ahead of time.
Get creative and thrifty: you can use wrapping paper to line your countertop for a buffet style taco bar.
Get yourself ready before the event. I ran out of time and had to rock my workout clothes. You can shop my pink workout outfit I am wearing linked below:
We had a taco bar for dinner. My brother grilled shrimp, chicken, peppers, and onions on the Blackstone grill. We made all of this using the Old El Paso Caribbean Jerk Kit! Everything was delicious. Head over to my "In My Kitchen" section, to check out the recipe details! Linked here: https://www.airicapuckettstyle.com/post/caribbean-jerk-fajitas
Chips, salsa, and black beans paired perfectly with the tacos and were such easy sides to prepare! You can add any toppings to the bar that you would like. We had taco sauce (also from Old El Paso), cilantro, shredded lettuce, jalapeños, lemons and limes, black olives, tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
For dessert we had my moms favorite cake: white wedding cake with butter cream frosting. I sliced lemons and added them to the cake so it would match the theme of the party. For the kids, I served mini cupcakes and key lime pie which also paired perfectly with the fiesta theme.
You will never believe where I found the decorations for this party: my local Dollar General! I made the cutest streamers out of $1 table cloths from DG. I love to mix high and low end. Definitely check out your local Dollar General for your party decor needs!
